Portrait of a Graduate
Academic
intellectually curious and self-motivated; understands what it takes to master a concept (and able to calculate the opportunity cost of learning it). Able to read a text and digest it (even if there are questions), and is able to do computations quickly.
Self-Motivated
Clearly has a next step for their desired career path (college, vocational, work, military, other) and is actively “driving the bus” while asking questions (vs. requiring more direction) or mentors.
Fit
Understands the value of eating right and exercising regularly. Has incorporated fitness into their lives and is self-motivated enough to maintain health.
Leadership
Graduates understand that leadership takes many forms – formal, informal, mentorship, etc. – and are willing to both lead and serve under leadership effectively. Graduates are slow to speak but quick to listen, and they understand the gravity of their words and the influence they carry. To that end, a graduate accepts the mantle of leadership as a disciple of Christ and walks in that authority.
Citizen
Feels a responsibility and is confident in aptitude to be an asset in most situations; this takes the form of courtesy, willingness to speak truth, wary of dangers (and able to address). Honors community helpers.
Minister
Understands the Gospel, has internalized the Gospel (transfer of belief), and has both the capability and desire to defend the Gospel when evangelizing.
Patriot
Loves America and understands the role they play as a citizen (voting, knowledge of history, geography, law). Honors veterans and the Bill of Rights. Knows the importance of rule of law and voting one’s values.
Salt + Light
Is able to sit at a table/converse with believers and non-believers alike. There is something “different” about an Eagle graduate that is both attractive and potentially convicting in how strong they believe what they believe and live their lives. Graduates have a servant’s heart and endeavor to be the hands and feet of Jesus in their community.
